Teapot Workshop with Miki at Rain Ceramics, Seattle

Two-day, hands-on teapot workshop on the wheel.

Advanced throwing and form development workshop, making a teapot with a lid that fit and a spout that pours. We will throw off the hump and trim with a wet chuck. Glazing strategy will be demonstrated.

This workshop focuses on the functional teapot making and developing delicate wheel skills. To keep up with the class, participants should be able to center and make a proper cylinder with confidence.

2-day Double Wall Piercing Workshop

Saturday & Sunday
May 16-17, 2026
10am -4pm each day.

Two-day advanced wheel workshop lead by Korean artist, Cho Yong-jun, explores the double wall vessel form and strategies for piercing design and execution.

Day 1: Demonstration and throwing skills development
Day 2: Trimming, construction, design and carving

Participants must be able to throw even walled cylinders using 3 lbs of clay.
Tools provided. Please bring a towel and studio use shoes

Wheel Intensive Workshop with Miki at Rocky Hill Arts, Galena, IL

Schedule your private or semi-private session with Miki at her home studio in Galena, Illinois. Rocky Hill Arts is fully equipped with hand-building and wheel work tools, 15 wheels, high performance pug mill, electric kiln to cone 10, raku kiln, pit fire and a wood fire kiln. Whether you want full or part-time instruction, or just to focus on your own work at your own pace, it is at your fingertips.

Schedule minimum of 3 days, maximum of 7 days.
Long term residency will be discussed case by case.

  • Teapot Intensive, minimum 3 days

  • Wheel Skills Development, 2-7 days, Beginner to Advanced Level welcomed

  • Pit Firing (making and firing), minimum 5 days to make, bisque and fire. Great for group events.

Fees: $75/hour, hands-on instruction, minimum 2-hours.
Studio use: $35/hour, per person, 3 hour minimum
- Includes unlimited use practice clay from the pug mill
- Clay available for purchase $35/25lb, includes bisque and glaze firing
- Outside clay with pre-approval. Cone 10 only.

Accommodations: Limited availability on site $150/night.
